The Santa Monica Pier Paddleboard Race & Ocean Festival took place once again on the south side of the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday. This all day event featured several races for paddleboarders, standup paddleboarders, and swimmers, as well as lifeguard dory racing. Aside from the racing, there was several youth beach competitions and a large vendor's village up on the pier that included a pop-up surf history museum.
Last year, huge surf cause carnage on all the races, with racers being tossed off their boards like rag dolls. This year the surf was just right. |
