Nissan 350Z Stuck In The Sand

Some "photographer" thought it would be a neat idea to have the owner of this Nissan 350Z drive out onto the sand for some photos. The car only made it a few feet off the parking lot at Venice Beach, before it got stuck. Their efforts to get the car out only made it worse too. A tow truck had to come remove the Nissan from the sand.

Jay Adams Mural Skate Session

Saturday, August 30, several hundred showed up at the Venice Beach pier for the Jay Adams Memorial Paddle Out. Surfers, skaters, friends, family, fans, from around the world, all came out to celebrate Jay's life.

A few hours later, everyone gather together at the Venice Skatepark for the unveiling of a Jay Adams mural that was painted in the skatepark's pool. Similar to the Shogo Kubo mural that was also just recently painted in the pool. After a mini skate session, Christian Hosoi, led the proceedings, where just as at the paddle out earlier in the day, many of Jay's friends spoke about him, his influences, and his legacy. Nathan Pratt, Tim Jackson, Jeff Ho, Tony Alva were among the many that stood in the deep end and spoke to the huge crowd that sat around the pool. Then the blue tarps was pulled off the pool wall to reveal the mural. After everyone got their group photos in front of the mural, the pool was cleared out again to be skated.

B4BC's Skate The Coast

Now in it's 8th year, Skate The Coast is 18-mile skateboarding marathon held by Boarding For Breast Cancer to raise money for breast cancer awareness, prevention, and support programs. Participants skate, bike, or rollerskate along the 18-mile course starting at the Santa Monica Pier, and taking the bike path along the beach, passing through such areas as Venice Beach, Marina Del Rey, Manhattan Beach, till they reach the Redondo Beach Pier, where there was an after party at Wahoo's Fish Tacos. Each participant needed to raise at least a minimum of $50 in order to take part, and with so many of these awesome guys and girls each raising way beyond that, the total amount raised ended up to be well over their goal of $25,000.

Welcome and safety meeting before the skate.
